Age looks like arithmetic and is not. Subtracting date fields and borrowing days breaks when months differ in length — from 31 January to 1 March, borrowing February's 28 or 29 days cannot cover a 31-day month, and naive implementations produce a negative day count.
This calculator counts whole months forward from the birth date instead, so the result is always the answer a person would give: in that case, one month and one day.
Someone born on 29 February has a real birthday only every four years, so tools have to choose a convention for the other three. This one treats 28 February as the anniversary in non-leap years, which matches most legal definitions and common date libraries.
Some jurisdictions use 1 March instead. If a date matters legally, check which convention applies rather than relying on any calculator.
