Why simple subtraction gets this wrong
Age looks like arithmetic and is not. Subtracting date fields and borrowing days breaks when months differ in length — from 31 January to 1 March, borrowing February's 28 or 29 days cannot cover a 31-day month, and naive implementations produce a negative day count.
This calculator counts whole months forward from the birth date instead, so the result is always the answer a person would give: in that case, one month and one day.
